Nick Ramsay to stand as Tory leader in Welsh assembly

Help

Nick Ramsay, the Conservative AM for Monmouth, has announced that he will be standing for the party's leadership in the Welsh assembly.

Speaking to Aled ap Dafydd on the Politics Show Wales, Mr Ramsay said he had the required support of at least three other members of the Conservative group.

If there are more than two candidates then the assembly group will have to decide which two names will be put to the membership, with the final result expected in mid-July.

The Conservatives are the second largest party in the assembly, with 14 seats. Nominations close for the contest on Monday.
