Cardiff University biologist's killer shrimp warning

Help

A task group has been set up to investigate and stop the spread of a killer shrimp alien to Welsh waters.

The invader, Dikerogammarus villosus, has been found at two sites in Wales - Cardiff Bay and Eglwys Nunydd reservoir in Port Talbot.

Special traps will now be laid at other locations in Wales to try to establish if the population has spread.

Professor Steve Ormerod of Cardiff University's School of Biosciences explains the threat.
