BBC Wales chief says she welcomes decision to fund S4C
The change that will see S4C part funded by the BBC instead of the UK Government has been welcomed by Menna Richards, director of BBC Wales.
Ms Richards said the UK government had said it would no longer fund S4C in the way it has been doing and asked the BBC whether it would step in.
She added: "I am glad the BBC made the decision that it would support Welsh language television in future."
Questioned by BBC Wales' Vaughan Roderick, Ms Richards said the fact that future funding of the channel was now assured would also benefit the independent companies who make programmes for S4C.
