Hospital wards closed over outbreak of vomiting bug

A ward at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee and a unit at Stracathro Hospital in Brechin have been closed to new admissions following a suspected outbreak of the winter vomiting bug.

Several patients have suffered vomiting and diarrhoea which is thought to have been caused by norovirus.

NHS Scotland said all appropriate infection control measures had been put in place.

People feeling unwell are being asked not to visit patients.

A spokesman said: "We would urge them to stay away until at least 48 hours after they are free of all symptoms."
