Body found in Loch Tay identified as Darren Gilpin

Police have confirmed that a body recovered from Loch Tay is that of missing canoeist Darren Gilpin.

The 29-year-old, of Edinburgh, was on the water with another man when their canoe capsized on Saturday evening.

His friend made it to the shore of the Perthshire loch, near Killin, and raised the alarm.

A major police search of the shoreline and water with helicopter support eventually turned up the body on Sunday night.
