The main street through Denny remains closed after a fire tore through a block of flats.
The blaze broke out on Monday afternoon in a third floor tenement flat on Stirling Street.
The fire spread to the roof, which was largely gutted by the flames, and neighbouring properties were evacuated.
Fire crews from Falkirk, Stirling, Bo'ness and Linlithgow were in attendance until about 23:00 tackling the blaze.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose jets to contain the fire while the surrounding area was evacuated.
After the roof collapsed, crews used an aerial platform to extinguish the fire from above.
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service group manager David Lockhart said: "The crews worked hard for some considerable hours to extinguish the fire.
"Thankfully the occupant from the flat was alerted to the fire by his smoke alarm. This is a clear reminder of how fire can strike anywhere."
There were no injuries in the fire, but traffic along Stirling Street is being diverted via Duke Street.
Police, fire and council officers are to return to the scene to decide when the road can re-open.
