Plans lodged for £150m housing development in Dundee

Plans have been submitted for a £150m project to build 228 new homes in Dundee.
Springfield Properties have lodged an application with Dundee City Council to develop land at the city's Western Gateway.
The plans, which were drawn up in consultation with local residents and the council, form the first part of a new village at South Gray.
Up to 100 jobs could be created during the construction of the new homes.
The proposals lodged with the local authority are for a mix of two and five bedroom homes, which are designed to be particularly energy efficient.
Development at the Western Gateway has been in the pipeline for a decade, with hopes that up to 600 houses could be built in the area.
And bosses at Scottish house building firm Springfield said a series of public consultations helped shape the plans which are now going before the authority.
Planner Sandra Linsday said a large amount of green space had been added to the development, including a play area and a football park, in response to suggestions raised by the public.
She added: "We are taking design inspiration from the surrounding villages and applying the latest techniques in energy efficient build design."
Springfield Properties chairman Sandy Adam said: "The site at the Western Gateway, which is west of the Kingsway and by Dykes of Gray Road, has been identified by the council for development for over 10 years and Springfield are committed to providing high quality residential development.
"This proposal has been a result of detailed pre-application discussions with Dundee City Council and the public, reflected in a planning proposal that delivers what the area and community needs and wants."
The South Gray village plans are the latest in a string of major house-building projects in and around Dundee in recent years.
Plans have also been lodged for 270 houses to the north of the city, at the Linlathen estate, while developers are also keen to build to the north of nearby Monifieth.
And 99 new flats are to be built in the city centre after approval was granted to redevelop the listed former jute mill at Wallace Craigie Works.
