Police are searching for a driver who crashed a car through the wall of a football stadium in Dundee.

A gaping hole was left in the wall of Tannadice Park, home of Dundee United, after a black Ford Fiesta ploughed into it at 05:00 on Sunday.

Officers are trying to trace the driver of the badly damaged car, who left the scene on foot after the crash.

They have appealed for any witnesses who saw the car through the night to come forward.

United had hosted SPFL champions Celtic at the ground the previous afternoon.

The Tannadice Street crash is the second time in less than a year that a car has collided with a football stadium in the city.

In May 2013 a BMW was badly damaged after it smashed into the wall of Dens Park, home of United's city rivals Dundee FC.
