'Racial' attack on man after he watched rugby in Bannockburn
An attack on a man after he left a pub showing the Scotland v England rugby match was racially motivated, police have said.
The 41-year-old Englishman had been watching the Calcutta cup match in McQ's pub in Bannockburn on Saturday.
He left between 18:30 and 19:00 and was walking on a path near Murrayfield United Free Church when he was attacked and racially abused by a man.
Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
The victim did not see his attacker and has been unable to provide police with a description.
The man who was attacked is white, 6ft tall, with a large build and short greying hair. He has a number of tattoos on the right side of his neck.
A police spokesman said: "Prior to the assault, the male victim had been within McQ's Public House, Bannockburn, watching the Scotland v England international rugby match.
"He then left the pub and made his way onto the footpath where he was approached by the suspect and assaulted and racially abused."
