Police say Whins of Milton death was 'murder'

James Street Mr McKechnie's body was found in his home in James Street, Whins of Milton

Police have started a murder inquiry after a man's body was found in his own home in central Scotland about three days after he was last seen.

Officers said they had discovered the body of Angus McKechnie in James Street in Whins of Milton, on the outskirts of Stirling, at 10:30 on Tuesday.

They said the 31-year-old, who was known locally as Ryan, had not been seen in about three days.

Detectives are trying to establish exactly how Mr McKechnie died.

Det Ch Insp Gary Cunningham, of the major investigation team, said: "We are asking anyone who remembers seeing or hearing anything untoward in or around James Street in the past few days to contact police immediately.

"Anyone with any further information relevant to our investigation is also asked to get in touch."
