Man, 50, charged with Falkirk rape

A 50-year-old man has been charged with raping a woman in Falkirk.

Police said the woman was seriously sexually assaulted in the Callander Park View area of the town in the early hours of Sunday 8 December.

Officers said they still wanted to speak to any taxi drivers who picked up or dropped off a fare in the Callander Road area between midnight and 03:00.

The 50-year-old man, who is yet to be named, is due to appear at Falkirk Sheriff Court on Friday.

Det Insp Hugh Louden, who is in charge of the investigation, renewed the appeal for taxi drivers to come forward.

He said police also wanted to hear from anyone else who had been in the area at the time of the attack.
