Woman, 88, struck by lorry in Bonnybridge street

An 88-year-old woman has been seriously injured after being hit by a goods lorry in Bonnybridge, near Falkirk.

Police said the woman was crossing the road in Wellpark Terrace at about 13:30 when she was struck by the Mercedes-Benz box-type vehicle.

A helicopter air ambulance was at the scene, but the woman was taken to the Forth Valley Royal Hospital by road ambulance.

Wellpark Terrace was closed while investigators examined the scene.

Local diversions were also put in place.

Staff at nearby WH Tyres called an ambulance and gave the woman first aid until the emergency services arrived.

Police Scotland appealed for anyone who witnessed the collision to contact them.
