Man in court over Michael Given's death in Dundee
A man has appeared in court charged with murdering Michael Given in Dundee by beating him to death with a piece of wood.
Mr Given was found dead at a flat in the city's Elders Court at about 00:20 on Sunday.
Matthew Pope, 21, appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court in connection with the death. He was said to be on bail at the time of the attack.
He made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.
Earlier, Michael Given's sister Claire Reid said that the family needed time to grieve in private.
She added: "Michael was a much loved son, a true mummy's boy.
"He was also a much loved brother, doted uncle, father, nephew, cousin, grandson and friend to very many.
"He is so very sadly missed by all. We would now ask that people respect our privacy and allow us to grieve in private as a family.''
