M9 death teenager named as Michael Easton, 13

The body found between junctions 5 and 6 of the M9 near Grangemouth on Saturday morning was that of a 13-year-old boy, police have said.

Michael Easton, from Polmont, was last seen in Grangemouth at 21:50 on Friday. Police believe the events that led to his death happened a short time later.

His body was found on the westbound carriageway at 05:40.

Police have called for anyone who saw anything, or who was travelling on the M9 on Friday night, to get in touch.

Det Insp Graeme Hendry said: "We are still in the early stages of trying to establish what happened to Michael and we believe motorists who were on the M9 around 21:50 on Friday night can be of assistance to us.

"Anyone who was travelling on the road at this time and remembers seeing anything that can help our investigation is asked to contact police on 101 immediately."

The M9 was reopened in both directions at 18:30 on Saturday.
