Tayside Police have launched a search for a 29-year-old man who has failed to return to a prison near Dundee.

Dennis Adams was due to appear at HMP Castle Huntly on Sunday after being granted temporary release to his home town of Aberdeen.

Adams was sentenced to six years imprisonment in February 2009 after being convicted of assault to severe injury and robbery.

He is described as 6ft tall, with brown coloured hair and blue eyes.

Police also said he had tattoos on both arms, a series of numbers on his left arm and what is described as a ''Nirvana face'' on his right arm.

The force also said Adams was known to have family and associates in the Aberdeen area.
