Grangemouth tanker drivers warn of further strike action

BP tanker drivers at Grangemouth are to stage a second walkout on Thrusday

The union Unite has warned of further industrial action by BP tanker drivers at Grangemouth in a dispute over pay and pensions.

Staff are due to stage a four-day strike on Thursday if there is no settlement to the row.

More than 40 drivers started a walk-out on Friday after an aviation contract was switched from BP to DHL.

The union said the move will see some drivers lose £1,400 a year in pay and about £100,000 from their pensions.

Tanker drivers have also embarked on a work-to-rule that began at 08:00 on Monday morning following the end of the walkout.

Grangemouth's owner, Ineos, said its operations would continue as normal.

A Unite spokesman said: "We've notified the employer that there will be further strikes from Thursday.

"At the same time, we're perfectly happy to get back round the negotiating table with BP, but they're going to need to come up with something that's going to see our members adequately compensated."
