Appeal for information over missing Alloa man

The family of a man who has been missing since the turn of the year have issued an appeal for information.

George McDonald, 51, was last seen on Hogmanay near his home in Alloa.

His sister-in-law Jean McDonald said: "This is a living hell for us and we can't sleep not knowing where he is."

Central Scotland Police said Mr McDonald has a history of mental illness and requires daily medication, and he may appear confused and disorientated.

Mrs McDonald appealed for witnesses alongside the missing man's brothers Lewis and William.

She said: "George is very much a family man who adores his nieces and nephews. They all miss him and ask every day 'is Uncle George still lost?'

"It is hard to tell them that he is. They don't understand. Every day we hope we can tell them that he has been found."

Mr McDonald is a keen fisherman and it is believed he would be capable of living outdoors.

Inspector Charlie Mitchell, of Central Scotland Police, said: "We are urging farmers and anybody who may have barns or other outbuildings to check them in case George has taken shelter there."

Records show his mobile phone was in the Dollarbeg area of Clackmannanshire at 06:30am on January 3.

He is 5ft 8in with short, balding grey hair. When last seen he was wearing a dark-coloured, padded jacket, dark blue jeans, dark-coloured boots and possibly a dark woollen hat.
