Tayside police are investigating a sheep mutilation in Perthshire in which the animal's organs appear to have been surgically removed.

It is understood the sheep's heart, lungs and liver had all been laid out beside it at the farm near Blackford, Auchterarder.

The remains were discovered by the farmer on Tuesday.

A force spokesperson said an investigation into the incident was ongoing.

Tayside Police added they were keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area between 16:00 on Sunday and 16:00 on Tuesday.
