Man in court after Falkirk man, 78, killed in car crash

Central Scotland Police have confirmed the identity of a pedestrian killed after being hit by a car in Falkirk.

He was 78-year-old John Morton from Falkirk. A police spokeswoman said a 30-year-old man was to appear at Falkirk Sheriff Court in connection with the incident.

The crash happened on Grahams Road, near the junction with Gowan Avenue, at about 12:20 on Sunday.

Mr Morton sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.

Police said their investigation into the incident was still ongoing and they were keen to hear from anybody who may have been in the area between 12:15 and 12:30 on Sunday.

Sgt Andrew Thomson said: "Grahams Road was particularly busy yesterday with vehicles and pedestrians and we are keen to hear from anybody who was in the area.

"In particular we are keen to piece together the movements of the blue Audi A4 saloon car which was involved in the collision. We would like to hear from anybody who may have seen this car being driven prior to the collision.

"We are also keen to hear from anybody who may have seen the Audi, which was damaged as a result of the collision, being driven in the area following the collision."
