Man dies in crash which closed A9 near Dunkeld

A man was killed in a crash which completely closed the main A9 road to and from the Highlands.

The accident, which happened between Ballinluig and Dunkeld at about 16:00, involved a car and another vehicle.

Tayside Police said that despite the best efforts of emergency services the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed in both directions for several hours for accident investigations.

Details of the man who has died will not be released until next of kin have been informed.
