Appeal over smoke flares at Brechin-Rangers match
Tayside Police are appealing for help in identifying supporters who threw smoke flares at the Brechin City versus Rangers match on Sunday.
Deputy Match Commander Inspector Ally Robertson praised the good behaviour of the majority of the crowd.
However, he said a small number tried to cause disruption with the "unpleasant" devices.
He said the "reckless" individuals needed to be identified and would face Football Banning Orders.
That would prevent them from attending all future football games in Scotland.
The Ramsdens Cup game was Rangers' first competitive outing since the club's financial troubles saw it go into administration and voted into the Irn-Bru Third Division.
The tie ended in a 2-1 win for Rangers, in front of a 4,100 capacity crowd at Glebe Park.
