Crystal Rig wind farm extension proposed

Wind turbine The Scottish government will have the final say on the plans to extend the wind farm

Plans to extend one of the UK's largest wind farms which straddles the Borders and East Lothian have been submitted to the Scottish government.

Crystal Rig wind farm in the Lammermuir Hills near Duns already has 85 operating turbines.

Now Fred Olsen Renewables wants to erect a further 26 turbines, ranging in height up to 135m tall.

Although Holyrood will have the final decision, Scottish Borders Council is one of the statutory consultees.
