Corrosive liquid thrown over dog in Dumfries

Police are investigating after a corrosive liquid was thrown over a dog while it was in its kennel in at Babbington Drive in Dumfries.

The lurcher suffered extensive burns and had to be put down.

It happened sometime between 22:00 on Saturday and 01:00 on Sunday.

In a separate incident in Stranraer, a 13-year-old cat had to be put to sleep after being shot in the leg by a pellet from an air gun. Police have appealed for witnesses to both incidents.
