Galashiels abattoir worker death charge denied

A Borders company has denied failing to ensure the health and safety of an employee who died in an accident at work three years ago.

Scottish Borders Abattoir Ltd, of Lauder, faces three charges under the Health and Safety at Work Act.

They relate to the death of David Barker, 48, who died after an accident at the company's slaughterhouse in Galashiels in January 2011.

A trial by jury is scheduled to start on 11 August.
