Dumfries and Galloway anti-poverty strategy approved

Plans to develop a wide-ranging anti-poverty strategy for Dumfries and Galloway have been approved.

The local authority wants to commission new research to establish the scale of the problem.

The proposal got the green light at a meeting of the policy and resources committee.

Council leader Ronnie Nicholson said they needed a more in-depth understanding of the issue if they were to tackle it effectively.
