Hawick man Christopher Robertson jailed over strangling attempt

A Hawick man who tried to strangle his partner, screaming that he was going to kill her, has been jailed.

Christopher Robertson, 21, of Trinity Street, admitted carrying out the assault at a flat in North Street, Peebles, in May last year.

Jedburgh Sheriff Court heard he straddled her body, put his hands round her neck and threatened to kill her.

Sheriff Peter Paterson told Robertson he had committed a serious assault and jailed him for 13 months.
