Galashiels man given jail warning over indecent images
A Galashiels man who downloaded indecent images of children has been warned he faces a jail sentence.
Jason Thomson, 40, admitted two charges of possessing child pornography at his old home in Woodstock Avenue between September 2012 and July 2013.
Selkirk Sheriff Court was told that 164 indecent images and 28 movies were found on his computer.
Sheriff Peter Paterson said the offence was "extremely serious" with a custodial sentence likely.
Defence lawyer Ross Dow told the court: "He is at a loss to explain it.
"He was accessing pornography and things progressed from there.
"He is addicted to pornography and this was an extension to that."
Sentence was deferred until 25 August for background reports to be prepared and Thomson's name was placed on the sex offenders' register.
