Police have identified a man whose body was discovered in ground between two south of Scotland schools prompting the closure of both.

Dean Lupton, 28, of Annan, was found dead between Annan Academy and Hecklegirth Primary on Monday.

His body was discovered at about 05:45 by a member of the public.

Police said early investigations suggested there were no suspicious circumstances. Both schools were shut on Monday after the find was made.

A report into the incident will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

The two schools - with a combined roll of about 1,200 pupils - were scheduled to reopen on Tuesday.
