Firefighters tackle 'intense' blaze at Twynholm house

Fire engine Crews worked through the night to bring the fire under control

Firefighters have been battling for hours to deal with an "intense" fire at an empty house in southern Scotland.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service crews were sent to the scene in Twynholm at about 17:15 on Thursday.

They were still at the scene more than 18 hours later.

Crews from Kirkcudbright, Gatehouse, Castle Douglas, Dalbeattie and Dalmellington in East Ayrshire worked through the night to bring the fire under control.

There were no reports of any casualties.
