Policeman killed in crash with bus near Earlston

A policeman has been killed in a crash between a motorbike and a bus on the A6105 near Earlston in the Borders.

The road was closed for several hours after 07:00 while a full accident investigation took place.

It is not known whether the officer - believed to be stationed at Galashiels - was on duty at the time of the accident.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "The male motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene."

He declined to comment further until relatives had been informed.
