Police say investigations are still ongoing after an eight-year-old girl was punched on a Dumfries street more than a week ago.

The "unprovoked" attack took place in Glencairn Road at about 17:50 on 5 May.

The girl was pushed and punched and police have been trying to trace two boys in their teens.

A spokesman said that inquiries were "ongoing" and that nobody had been traced or charged in connection with the incident.

Police issued a description of two teenagers they were keen to speak to after the attack.

One had blond spiky hair and wore a white t-shirt with a skull design on it. The second had darker hair and was wearing a blue hooded top.

The youths made off towards Terregles Road after the attack.
