Police are seeking help in tracing a "unique and distinctive" medal taken in a £33,000 jewellery raid in the Scottish Borders.

The incident happened at a property on Waverley Road in Melrose in March while the owners were on holiday.

Jewellery and a tablet device were taken as well as the Rotary Club past presidents medal from 2005-06.

Police have released an image of a medal similar to the one which was taken.

The incident is being investigated as part of Operation RAC currently ongoing throughout the region.

PC Philip Moule said: "Our inquiries into this break-in are continuing and we would like to refresh our appeal for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area at the time.

"This Rotary Club medal is very unique and distinctive, and we ask that anyone who recognises it should contact Police Scotland on 101 or, alternatively, the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
