Annan man charged with attempted murder and rape

A 49-year-old Annan man has appeared in court on two charges of rape and one of attempted murder.

Brian Irvine, of Shawhill Road, made a brief appearance in private before Sheriff Peter Reid at Dumfries.

He was on a petition accusing him of the offences. He was also accused of indecent assault and assault to severe injury.

No plea was made and he was committed for further examination and allowed bail with special conditions.
