Woman injured in Galloway mountain bike fall

A tourist has been badly injured in a mountain bike accident in the south west of Scotland.

She is believed to have fallen from her bike on a track in the Kirroughtree Forest near Newton Stewart on Saturday.

The woman, who is in her 40s but has not been named, was treated at the scene before being taken to safety by the Galloway Mountain Rescue Team.

An air ambulance was then used for carry her 60 miles to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.

The woman is thought to have head and neck injuries but they are not thought to be life threatening.
