Teenager struck by car in Galashiels town centre

A 17-year-old boy has been seriously injured after being hit by a car in Galashiels town centre.

The incident happened on the town's St John Street at about 13:20.

The teenager was struck by a Ford Fiesta which was heading in the direction of Bank Street.

He was taken by ambulance to the Borders General Hospital near Melrose where his injuries were described as "serious".
