Big Burns Supper festival to be extended to nine days

The Big Burns Supper music and arts festival in Dumfries will run for nine days next year, instead of three.

Organisers said this was to build on the success of this year's programme, which attracted a total audience of 14,000.

This included an estimated 2,000 people from outside the region.

Two sell-out shows - the Burlesque cabaret "Le Haggis" and the children's show "Hamish" - will feature again in 2015, along with the street carnival.

Next year's Big Burns Supper will run from 23-31 January with most events taking place across the two weekend dates.
