Grand National winning jockey Ryan Mania is seeking a second successive victory on Saturday but with a different horse.

Aurora's Encore, which landed a shock 66/1 win in 2013, has been retired after suffering a broken leg.

However, the Galashiels jockey will partner Mr Moonshine for the same trainers - Sue and Harvey Smith.

The Borderer goes into the race in fine form having clocked up nearly 50 winners this season.

"You never believe that you can ride as many winners as that - and as many big winners," he admitted.

"When you actually win a big race like the National you think: 'I can do it'.

"It just gives you that added confidence."

He added that the win in last year's big race had a major impact on his own career and his stable.

"Other trainers that might not have used you before might use you now off the back of the National," he said.

"Sue and Harvey were starting to downsize a bit until they won the National and suddenly they have got an influx of horses and they have never been busier."

The Grand National takes place at Aintree on Saturday at 16:15.
