Lockerbie thieves take 'substantial' cash haul from house

A "substantial amount" of cash, along with a computer and jewellery, have been stolen from a house in Lockerbie.

The break-in happened in the town's Haas Grove some time between 11:00 on Wednesday and 13:30 on Thursday.

Police are keen to trace the occupants of an 02 plate vehicle with two men inside, seen parked outside the house at about 20:50 on Thursday evening.

Insp Stuart Wilson urged the public to call police any time they see anything which "just isn't right".

"We have officers on patrol 24/7 and are more than happy to check out any reports about suspicious behaviour," he said.

"There is nothing more frustrating when dealing with a crime to come across someone who tells us 'I wish I had just called you at the time'.

"Give us a call on 101 at the time, it only takes a minute, and remember that if it was your house that was getting broken into, you would want someone to call the police if they saw something suspicious at the time."
