Body find The body was discovered on the beach at Portling by a man out walking

A body has been found washed up on a beach at the village of Portling on the Dumfries and Galloway coastline.

Scenes of crime officers from Police Scotland were examining the body, which they said had been in the water for a considerable time.

The discovery was made at 08:00 on Friday by a man walking on the beach.

A police spokesman said inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the find were ongoing and the procurator fiscal had been notified.
