Woman charged after dog bites girl in Dumfries park

A woman has been charged by police after a young girl was bitten by a dog in a park in Dumfries.

The 18-year-old woman has been charged under Section 3 of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.

The incident happened sometime between 15:00 and 15:40 on Sunday, near Heathhall Community Centre.

The four-year-old girl was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary where she was treated for a superficial bite wound.

It was understood that she was bitten on the leg. A report is being prepared for the procurator fiscal.
