Dumfries store robbers 'brandished knives'

Detectives are hunting two knife-wielding men who robbed a shop in Dumfries.

It happened at the Lochfield Stores in Hardthorn Road at about 21:00 on Sunday.

The pair threatened two members of staff before making off with a three-figure sum of money and other goods.

Police said the staff were not injured but left "very distressed". They have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

The owner of the store has offered a £100 reward, subject to strict conditions, to anyone who provides the information that leads to the conviction of the two men responsible for the robbery.

The first suspect was described as about 6ft, average build, with a local accent, wearing a black jacket, turquoise hooded top, jeans and gloves. He had a baseball cap and chequered scarf covering his face.

The second man was about 5ft 7in to 5ft 10in, average build, with a local accent, wearing a dark hooded jacket, dark scarf covering his face and dark trousers and gloves.

Det Sgt Scott Young said: "The victims were not injured during this incident, but were left very distressed.

"Local inquiries are ongoing to see if residents in the area saw anything suspicious however we are keen to hear from anyone with information that can help with this investigation."
