Castle Douglas shop fall death investigated by police

The death of a man who fell outside a retail store in Castle Douglas three weeks ago has become the subject of a police investigation.

Robert Kirk, 61, from the town became unwell outside the Wilkinsons shop on Cotton Street at about 11:00 on 2 January.

He was taken to Dumfries Infirmary and then the Western General in Edinburgh where he died on 17 January.

Anyone who witnessed the incident has been asked to contact police.

They said there were no suspicious circumstances in the death and a report had been submitted to the procurator fiscal.
