Ruthwell woman Christina Kelly killed in horse and vehicle crash

Police have named a woman who died following a crash between an Isuzu pick-up and two women walking horses on the B725 in Dumfries and Galloway.

Christina Kelly, 58, from Ruthwell, was killed as result of the collision at about 17:10 on Thursday.

She was one of two women struck by a blue Isuzu pick-up near Clarencefield.

Ms Kelly was taken to Dumfries Infirmary for treatment but died later. A 29-year-old woman remains in hospital in a serious condition.

The 53-year-old driver of the Isuzu was uninjured in the collision.

Both horses died as a result of the accident and the road was closed for almost seven hours.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area around the time of the collision or witnessed the pedestrians or vehicle prior to the incident.
