Operation Tinsel arrests in Scottish Borders mount up
A Christmas safety operation in the Scottish Borders has seen more than 20 people arrested in its first week.
Operation Tinsel has seen people charged with domestic violence, violent crime and antisocial behaviour.
The crackdown - which is ongoing throughout the Lothians and Borders - will continue into early January.
Insp Carol Wood said those arrested had either appeared in court or remained in custody which was "no way to spend the festive period".
"Local officers will continue to provide a high-visibility presence within their communities and anyone found to be involved in crimes of any sort can expect to be dealt with," she said.
"Police Scotland is committed to keeping people safe over Christmas and New Year and will continue to identify those committing offences within the Borders and remove them from our communities."
