Man injured following head-on crash on A698 in Borders

A man had to be cut free from a car following a head-on crash in the Borders.

The accident happened on a rural road known locally as Nisbet Road End, off the A698 between Hawick and Kelso, at about 16:50 on Wednesday.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said: a man had been "severely trapped" and was taken to Borders General Hospital with leg injuries.

A woman was treated at the scene but did not need to go to hospital.
