Grand National winning jockey Ryan Mania plans a fresh tilt at the big race with this year's winner Aurora's Encore.

The rider, from Galashiels in the Scottish Borders, revealed that he and the horse will have another shot at the Aintree showpiece in April.

The 23-year-old said he had to be "hopeful" he could repeat the feat.

"The horse will be another year older and he will have more weight," he admitted.

"For a horse to win a big race like that - you don't know how much it has taken out of him.

"Some horses only have that one big race in them - so we'll just have to wait and see."

Mania was named Ettrick and Lauderdale sports personality for the second year over the weekend at an awards ceremony.
