Peebles pensioner Williamina Crow identified as crash victim

Police have identified an 83-year-old woman who died when the car she was travelling in hit a wall in Peebles.

Williamina Crow, known locally as Wilma, was a passenger in a Honda Civic which crashed in the Greenside area of the town at about 11:00 on Wednesday.

She was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment but died later in the day as a result of her injuries.

The 84-year-old driver was seriously injured and he was taken to the same hospital for treatment.

The road was closed for about three-and-a-half hours while police conducted an investigation at the scene.

They have appealed for anyone who witnessed the collision or who has information about it to contact Police Scotland on 101.
