Savour the Flavour 'stops active operations'

A project supporting the food and drink industry in Dumfries and Galloway has announced it is to "stop active operations".

Savour the Flavours' activities will come to an end on 18 October when its funding ceases.

Chairman Dave Smith said that meant all "day-to-day business" would be "put on hold for the foreseeable future".

However, he said the Flavour Fortnight food festival would continue to be delivered.

Mr Smith said the group's core activities were being "zipped up rather than shut down".

He said that a committee meeting last week had agreed it would continue to seek funding for projects to support the food and drinks industry in the region.

"We are currently finalising funding applications for future projects that we hope will benefit Dumfries and Galloway's food and drink sector during the important 2014 Year of Homecoming, and looking ahead to the 2015 Year of Food and Drink," he said.
