Man 'serious' after Dumfries street attack

A 20-year-old man is in a serious condition in hospital after he was attacked in a Dumfries street.

The incident happened at about 19:00 on Saturday on the town's Balmoral Road.

The victim suffered facial injuries after being attacked by another man and was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary for treatment.

A Police Scotland spokesman described the man's condition as "serious but stable" and appealed for witnesses to the incident to come forward.
