Hawick rugby player Greg Anderson admits assault charge

A rugby player from Hawick has admitted assaulting a man in Galashiels to the danger of his life.

Greg Anderson, 22, of Heronhill Bank, punched his victim on the head outside an Indian restaurant in November.

At Selkirk Sheriff Court, his not guilty plea to attempting to pervert the course of justice was accepted.

Sentence on Anderson, who part of the Hawick team which won its Sevens tournament in May, was deferred until 30 September for background reports.
